Saffronart.com has started a mega winter auction of paintings online. Art lovers can log in, register and put in their bids to buy their favourite painting. The catalogue has the works of veterans like SH Raza, Tyeb Mehta, MF Hussain, VS Gaitonde and Akbar Padamsee. The auction began today (6th of Dec) and will end tomorrow (7th Dec).
There are price tags ranging from $500 to anywhere around $1 million. What is interesting is the online auction really takes the process to a much vaster and larger audience.
