Reed Infomedia’s First Offering: Yet Another Classifieds Listing

The first offering from Reed Infomedia India, the 51:49 JV between Reed Business International and Infomedia India Ltd, is a classified listing called Hotfrog.in, reports agencyfaqs.
Apparently, the site was launched in September. The name ‘Hotfrog’ is common for a number of Reed’s international websites. From that, and the cross-linkages between portals, it appears that they’re looking to become a global classified directory and perhaps cater to international customers. Which is why it is odd that they don’t have multiple language options for each portal. Else, I think it would have been better to go with a localized name. I’m not sure of how useful this will be either, with listings and press releases free and not being checked for authenticity (only email validation): credibility is an issue. How is it being monetized, you ask? So far - Google ads.
