NDTV And Yello Media Launch Jobs Portal

You’re probably reading this here first: NDTV and Thailand based Yello Media have launched a jobs portal - NDTVjobs.com . By the looks of it, the site is still under development (my signup form had some problems - screencap). The terms and conditions are those of Yello, not NDTVjobs. It’s a mirror image of the site Yello runs/developed in Thailand for MSN Careers. Yello has sites with both the Yello brand, as well as co-branded portals. Who’ll be running the show here?
I don’t know how this fits in with the NDTV mission, but if you look at what’s happened over the past couple of months, the gameplan for media houses seems to be to use the power of their distribution network to plug.
The site has a career blog, and ‘Boot Camp’, which lists training courses. I quite liked the GUI of the site, but how serious are NDTV about the jobs portal? If you’ve seen NDTV Blogs once, you don’t want to see them again. A jobs portal, Naukri and Monster will tell you amidst the arguments- is a different ball game. Web18 already has jobstreet. And it won’t be easy uprooting pre-established players - hasn’t CareerBuilder struggled in India?
For now, even the main url http://www.yellojobs.com links to the NDTVjobs site. Yello mainly has a classifieds business, so will be see that next?
The bar on top lists other sites from the NDTV network: NDTV Gadgets.com, NDTV shopping (powered by Fabmall), NDTV Travels.

Hey aditya! I agree ... infact I got a job too thru ndtv jobs. Interestingly, i got a job in a leading media company (its not NDTV) which had its job ad on ndtvjobs… so while the site had some scope for improvement, I got a good job ... thanks to them. If competitors of NDTV in media can take their help for hiring, i can surely use them too.

    Sir,

It was too late that I came across this article of yours. On the basis of my experience with this website, I would like to disagree on some of the points mentioned in the article.

I am a jobseeker and was looking for some good websites wherein to apply for one. Being disappointed with the established players in this field, I decided to choose NDTVJOBS. Websites like Jobsahead have done nothing for me except filling my mail inbox and giving me spam calls. However, NDTVJOBS meant business right from the start. Jobs promising Rs. 150000 and more- what more can one ask for?

First, NDTVJOBS is not the first venture of a news channel into the job market. TV 18 too has ventured into the field to reap its large subscriber base. And there is nothing to be shocked at how NDTV will perform in this field. Almost every business ventures into new businesses. Reliance started with textiles, and now it is into telecom, petrochemicals, petroleum and what not. So give time to this new entity. What’s more, as a jobseeker I am interested in jobs rather than who is searching it for me.

The quality of jobs that this website matches for you requires mention. At least in my case, the job matches sent to my mail were all relevant and now I am hooked to a good job.

And I will really not agree to the quality of blogs included in this website. And Naukri and Monster that you have referred to have not that great a blog to boast of. What I liked about the blogs was the classification into ‘for jobseekers’ and ‘for employers’. Even under these basic classifications, they have classified into professor blogs, interview blogs etc.

Finally, the website is complete now. So you can now complete you application there and you too can get a satisfying job like me.
