The GSM Industry in India has soft-launched a mobile instant messenger at a seminar organized by the COAI, reports the Economic Times. The Mobile Instant Messenger requires a GPRS connection, and will also allow users to chat with those on the Internet. The commercial launch of the service is expected in 3-4 weeks, and local language IM is also planned. The software has been designed by Jataayu Software. For all you know, this could end up being the application that increases adoption of GPRS in India. What’s important is that the applications will be pushed by all the GSM operators. Early adopters? The youth, of course!
