Indian e-Commerce Market Close To $1 Billion

eStatsIndia.com, an internet research agency, has released some numbers on Indian e-commerce scene - both b2c as well as b2b. According to this study, Indian e-commerce market - b2c and b2b combined - is about Rs 4,100 crore.
B2C E-commerce Industry Snapshot:
Size (India) in Rs crore: (for the year 2005-06):
Retail: 150 (billing figures)
Jobs: 135
E-greetings: 12
ISP’s (domain booking and other related services excluding hosting): 10
Matrimonial/Dating: 40
Travel (Ticketing): 750 (billing figures)
Advertising: 162 (revenues)
Broking: 500 (these figures are commission earned by the online arms of the broking firms)
Others:
Total B2C E-commerce Market Size:(For 2005-06): Rs 1759 crores or around Rs. 17 billion

Key Assumptions:
-€¢  Internet User base will be 30.5 million by the year 2006.
-€¢  Though PC will remain the primary Internet access device till the end of the forecast period. Mobile phones and other wireless devices will also have significant impact on the scenario.

-€¢  Overall B2C e-commerce market in India will grow at a CAGR of 51.27% to touch Rs. 9259 Crore by the end of the year 2009.
