Doordarshan To Launch Mobile TV Using DVB-H This Year

Indiantelevision.com: India’s state-owned TV network Doordarshan is venturing into mobile TV. It will launch its Digital Video Broadcasting to Handhelds (DVB-H) service in the second half of 2006. DD will take all four national channels on mobile using this technology. Earlier, it had launched DD News in moving vehicles in Delhi through the Digital Video Broadcasting to terrestrials (DVB-T).
In another major step, DD plans to digitize its archive and make it available as streaming videos. The content will be available on a pay-per-view basis.
