Cleartrip.com, an Indian travel portal, is believed to have raised $8 million in Series B funding, according to VentureWire. DAG Ventures led the deal, and was joined by the existing investor Sherpalo Ventures. It’s not clear if another existing investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers has participated in the current round. Cleartrip had received $5 million funding from Sherpalo and KPCB early this year.
Indian online travel market is entering the second phase with all three major players securing second round of funding. MakeMyTrip.com has tied up $10-12 million from Helion Venture Partners, Sierra Ventures and the existing backer SAIF Partners. Travelguru recently raised $15 million from Battery Ventures and the original backer Sequoia Capital India.
