BlackBerry Pearl Launched In India; To Target Fun Loving Youth For A Change

Research In Motion, the makers of BlackBerry mobile devices, are going after the youth market in India. The company has launched its latest BlackBerry Pearl in India. The candy bar like device - Pearl 8100 - has been launched in partnership with Bharti Airtel.
It weighs just 89 gm has features like a digital camera, multimedia capabilities and expandable memory, the first for BlackBerry. BlackBerry had remained a tool for business execs on the go, now Pearl is being launched to target the fun-loving youth. In Asia Pacific, India is the first country where Pearl is being launched. Bharti has started taking orders for the Pearl and will start delivering the device, priced at Rs 24,999, in the next two to three weeks.
Since RIM has formed a tie-up with Hutch too, the latter is also likely to launch Pearl soon. [Via Economic Times]
