Ok, here are some details on travel portal Yatra.com revenues. The company claims monthly revenues of $5 million, and a volume of 2,500 tickets and 150 rooms a day. The company expects to break even by end of 2008, according to a company official.
In contrast, market leader MakeMyTrip.com is doing revenues of about $10 million a month. But Yatra is the latest entrant into the market by launching its services only mid-last year. So the numbers look good, from that perspective.
“We have posted an average revenue of $5 million a month with a volume of 2,500 tickets and 150 rooms a day. The company expects to break even by the end of 2008,” Nikhil Rungta, head of marketing, Yatra Online Pvt Ltd, told Financial Express.
Meanwhile, Yatra has announced a tie-up with Reliance Web World outlets for booking hotel rooms. Reliance Capital is an investor in the company, so that would have helped in clinching the deal with Reliance Web World, which will earn a commission from the bookings made out of the outlets. The pilot has been launched in 48 centres in three cities, initially—- Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore. The outlets will have a travel desk to handle this part of the business.
