Web18 Buys In.com; Is Active18 Being Rebranded?

Web18, the online and mobile company from the Network18 group has bought the domain name In.com, contentSutra has learned from multiple sources. At present, while www.in.com remains cloaked, domains like xyz.in.com redirect to another Network18 portal - Tech2.com. The domain registration information is currently cloaked as well, though the IP location refers to India.

We haven’t been able to get information on how much Web18 paid for the domain, so maybe the domainers reading this can weigh in with their inputs in the comments.

The word doing the rounds is that Active18, the horizontal portal that Web18 has been working on for a while, will be rebranded as In.com. However, we don’t have a confirmation of this: we contacted Surya Mantha, CEO of Web18, who declined to confirm that they have bought the domain, and had no comments on plans for In.com.

Disclosure: I own an inconsequential number of shares of Network18

Update: On request, we’re removing a slanderous/personal comment from the comments.
