There is more from Vodafone. Barely two days after winning a $11.1 bid for 67 per cent stake in Hutchison Essar, Vodafone Group CEO Arun Sarin has started talking of revenue boosting plans for India. First of the initiatives is to launch a mobile banking platform in India. Sarin, at the recently concluded 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, said that Vodafone would work with Citigroup to develop M-PESA, a mobile phone money transfer application. Sarin sees a huge potential for the application in emerging markets like India and Africa, where mobile phones can play a big role in banking transactions.
