UTV Software Communications Expands Board With Disney, Cadbury Executives

Diversified media firm UTV Software Communications today said it has expanded its board of directors with two non-executive directors, one of whom will be an independent director. Sanjay Purohit, executive director, marketing for Cadbury in India, joins UTV board as an independent non-executive director and Rob Gilby, senior vice president & MD, Disney-ABC International Television, Asia-Pacific, joins as non-executive director.
Gilby joins two other Disney representatives on UTV’s board. Andy Bird, president, Walt Disney International and Kevin Mayer, executive vice-president, The Walt Disney Co., are already on UTV board as non-executive directors. Disney owns about 59% equity stake in UTV even though voting rights are capped at 32%.
Related: On Tuesday, Disney-ABC International Television (Asia-Pac) announced the appointment of Nicholas Wodtke as vice president, business strategy & development and new media. Wodtke was the CEO of Snap TV prior to joining Disney (NYSE: DIS).
