[by Cerius Shah] We rounded up ADEx Data from January 2007 - January 2008 on the Top TV advertisers for the sectors that we cover. Do keep in mind that ADEx measures secondages (airtime), and not TV spends; Also, the charts below compare the companies mentioned in the data set, and are not an indication of the total market:

Websites

Homeshop18 ruled the roost followed by BCCL, probably because of the Indiatimes Mail campaign that TV screens were plastered with in 2007. On that note, the TIL campaign has changed from the 5.6.7.8’s –  Woo Hoo to the new, very Microsoft’ish Ye-Lo (Yellow). TIL is at no. 9, and even if you combine the two entries, Homeshop18 still leads. Info Edge (BOM: 532777) (Naukri) follows third and Zapak is fourth. If anyone can enlighten us on the product/services of TMP worldwide, at 5, it would much appreciated. All Web18 properties have a listing under separate heads, which by our estimates equals 27 percent, should give you an idea about the huge advertising opportunity costs TV18 pumps into Web18. Bigadda was at No. 11, NDTV came in at 16, Star at 17 and Rediff (NSDQ: REDF) at 18.

More on airtime garnered by ISPs, Telecom Operators and Handset Manufacturers in the extended text

TATA seems to be going full power on its ISP service, capturing almost half of the share of voice. Expect the lead to extend as TATA pumps in $1 Billion in the next three years in connecting 100 cities and towns.

Telecom Operators

Leading both in market share and ad-spends, Bharti Airtel heads the Big 4 with 31%, followed by a distant Reliance. Hutch and Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) combine would have placed it ahead of Reliance at no. 2.

Handset Manufacturers

No surprises here either, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) leads, Sony (NYSE: SNE) Erickson follows, Motorola (NYSE: MOT) is in at third and Samsung slips in at fourth.
