TRAI Refuses To Recommend Cap On Number Of Telecom Operators

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) will not recommend capping the number of operators in telecom services to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). [via Indian Express] Big cellular mobile service providers are strongly opposed to issuing licences to new service providers. If the DoT accepts the Trai’s recommendation Indian consumers could benefit from operators’  increased efficiency and probably lower rates. [see related links]
