Times Loses Remit2Home and Remit2Home1.com Domains

A panel of the National Arbitration Forum has ordered the domain names remit2home.com and remit2home1.com be transferred from Times of Money Ltd (part of the BCCL group) to Remithome Corporate, a California based remittance service.

Remithome.com runs remittance services from US to Phillipines, although both domains differ in terms of names, according to the press release, the panel found the URL’s “confusingly similar” to the Remithome trademark. To add, according to the full text here, the Times Group had a constructive or actual knowledge of Remithome’s right and hence created a likelihood that users would be confused and profited from the same (the domains redirect to Timesofmoney.com)

The judgement is according to the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Last I checked, both domains still redirected to TimesofMoney.

Update: Abhinov Agarwal, in the comments to this post, points out that Airtel.com redirects to Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) Spain.

TimesofMoney had taken this case up with the Indian judiciary and the court in India has given a favorable response and a stay order has been passed toward the arbitration. This means TimesofMoney will have the right of use to these domain names till further verdict.

whatever the case may be..the very fact that Times of Money Ltd, a company from the reputed (????) Times Group can fool around with with such cheap marketing & branding tactics to pull traffic proves a point…people r not sooo dumb that they wouldnt be able to differentiate between original n the so called wannabe..

strict action has to taken & discourage all the ” i-m-there-too” sites from getting into such despicable n unethical practices… else very soon the “original” biggies will have not-so-bothering competition from likes of Microwsoft, yaahoo, readiff, gooogal, paypaul…

actually did some reading on the same ... and also visited the refered urls. The business of remit2home is definately legitimate. remit2home is the brand through which Times operates its global remmittance business and that why the redirection ....

Having been in this space, its not the same Abhinov as..

1.airtel.com is not in the telecom biz by itself so has no right to be owning the domain. Remit2Home is clearly in the biz of money transfers .
-2.Airtel’ by itself is a brand owned by Bharati and Vodafone using it is equivalent to squatting. Remit2Home or RemitHome are not domain names communicating the service
3.Timesmoney owns & operates the brand remit2india and remit2home seems a logical extension of the remittance services to other countries.

recently figured out that mr akhil isassociated with remit2india… i had a slight doubt but can confirm dis now as i had once received a apology email as a cs guy. The other times suporters here to me also look like employees. Plz stop taking desperate measures to cover up for the terribly shitty position in d market… My suggestion to you guys will be to actually work on building d long lost reputation…than to post rubbish crap…
