The Indian Express Sets Up Media School; Media Education Boom

The Express Group, publisher of The Indian Express, is launching a media school, going by this website. The Express Institute Of Media Studies will begin classes in October this year. The seven-month programme will cost Rs1.75 lakh.

Other media schools associated with major newspapers include the Times Centre For Media Studies (The Times of India) and Pioneer Media School (The Pioneer). The Hindu supports the Chennai-based Asian School of Journalism.

There has been a spate of media school launches recently. Pramath Raj Sinha-promoted 9.9 Mediaworx recently said it was relaunching the School of Convergence. We reported about the launch of a Knight foundation-supported media school in Noida recently. Former Mid-Day editor Shishir Joshi launched Journalism Mentor in April.
