Tata Indicom, Paymate Tie Up For Mobile Flight Ticketing

Tata Indicom and Paymate have tied up to provide Indicom subscribers with flight ticketing services. The agreement is currently limited to domestic air tickets. Paymate has also partnered with Kingfisher for an SMS based ticketing service says thisET report.

Nikhil adds: Will there be such a thing as exclusivity in mobile payment deals? I think not. Sure, Paymate may have tied up with Indicom and MChek with Airtel, but eventually the service providers (online retail, utility bill payments, ticketing) would like to offer their customers all payment options - Paymate, Jigrahak, Obopay, MChek, NGpay and others. The exclusive deals appear to be from the mobile operators side, and as a customer, I’d feel more comfortable with a payment mechanism that isn’t locked in…the pre-paid system of cash cards have an advantage here, despite the Know Your Customer (KYC) issues that the government is yet to deal with.
