Sumant Kasliwal, Business Head & VP Interactive For STAR India, To Join Microsoft

Contentsutra has learned from reliable sources that Sumant Kasliwal, Business Head & Vice President of Interactive Media (Internet) at Star TV India has put in his papers. While we haven’t been able to ascertain his role at Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), it is believed that he will be reporting to Jaspreet Bindra, Country Manager for Windows Live and MSN for Microsoft India. Kasliwal was with STAR for over three years, before which he was Asst. Vice President at ICICI Ventures.

This is yet another move from a traditional media setup in recent months: after the fracas at Anand Bazaar Patrika and Piyush Shah leaving HT Media, Kasliwal has left STAR to join a pureplay Internet company. Some comments here about new media-old media issues

Too much dirt: it was getting personal and abusive, and we could have been held liable for the comments.

Hi Nikhil,
Jaspreet Bindra is not the Country Manager of Microsoft. He is the Country Manager of the Online Advertising Services of Microsoft in India[MSN and Windows Live]. Ravi Venkatesan heads Microsoft in India as the India Chairman.

thanks for the correction Subho.

Prashant: in such cases, it’s difficult to separate the truth from the half-truths and lies. not fair on anyone to take the comments without a caveat.
