Sony Launches Singstar Bollywood For PS2
Sony (NYSE: SNE) and Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) appear to have synchronized their gaming console announcements for India: While MS announced the launch of xBox Live (details here), Sony announced the launch an Indian version of its PS2 game - Singstar Bollywood - with a tie-up with Sony BMG and T-Series for content, reports Business Standard. They’re in talks with Saregama for content as well. The company is working on other localized games - with Derek O’ Brian for a quiz based game called Buzz in India, which will be launched before Christmas this year, and is also eying Bollywood for more games.
The company had cut the PS2 price to Rs. 6990 (around $175), which country manager Antindriya Bose says is helping sales. No numbers, but “the sales figure has crossed what we registered last year. Moving ahead, we are looking at 10 times growth. Anything lower than this will be bad performance.”
