imageIf you are looking for signs of an economic slowdown, India’s magazine publishing industry is probably not a good place to start. Two new magazines are hitting newsstands this week. RPG Group’s general interest magazine, Open, will hit newsstands tomorrow and Careers 360, the first magazine from a new venture floated by Outlook publisher Maheshwar Peri, will appear on Saturday. While Peri’s magazine is being launched today evening by former President A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the RPG title, edited by former Financial Express editor Sandipan Deb, will formally launch tomorrow evening.

contentSutra was given an advance copy of Careers 360, which is published by Pathfinder Publications Pvt. Ltd, a company 90% owned by Peri and 10% by Netcore Solutions’ Rajesh Jain. The magazine is an information-oriented, serious offering, priced at Rs40. A quarter of the 112 pages carry ads—a rather encouraging start when publishers are complaining of ad revenue drop. The cover story is a survey on “Ten best courses and careers”.
