Scripps Networks (NYSE: SNI) is promoting Lisa Choi Owens to SVP of digital media, which will give her oversight of the cable net’s websites and chart the further development of its mobile and social media programs. Owens has been with Scripps for nearly two years and has been handling online distribution partnerships. Before arriving at Scripps, Owens held marketing and business development posts at Fuse Networks, Aether Systems and TheKnot.com (NSDQ: KNOT). When she joined Scripps in May ‘08, she had reported to Deanna Brown, who was president of the interactive group at the time. Last fall, Brown parted ways with Scripps to become president and COO of Federated Media.

Since Brown’s exit, Owens’ role has grown at Scripps. In the new post, she’ll continue to report to John Lansing, president of Scripps Networks.

Scripps claims more than 20 million monthly uniques across its suite of sites monthly. The sites include HGTV.com, FoodNetwork.com, TravelChannel.com, DIYnetwork.com, and FrontDoor.com among others.

While the company—which is separate from its newspaper sibling E.W. Scripps (NYSE: SSP)—was able to return to profitability in Q4, the programmer experienced continued weakness at its online properties, as revenues fell 25 percent. Owens will be under additional pressure to reverse those declines. Lately, Scripps was able to get rid of its ill-fated UK shopping site uSwitch late last year, albeit at a significant loss compared to what it cost the company to buy.
