Reliance Entertainment Acquires Animation Studio Anirights

I thought this was old news, but apparently not: Reliance Entertainment has acquired Anirights Infomedia, an animation company based in Pune, reports Economic Times (via VC Circle); at TiE-ISB Connect, Rajesh Sawhney, President of Reliance Entertainment had mentioned Anirights as one of their content ventures (screencap of the slide). Anirights in based in Pune, and the acquisition is interesting in the context of Reliance Entertainment’s gaming Jump Games setting up a game development centre in the same city; there’s obvious synergy. Televisionpoint quotes Sawhney: “Our focus is on creating original content (IP market) rather than the outsourcing market.” The acquisition was completed something in the past three months.

The quotes attributed to Televisionpoint.com are not their own. They have copied the article from The Economic Times, Pune edition, on 24 November. So the quotes should ideally be attributed to The Economic Times.
