Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has announced new content partnerships for its on-device NSeries Video Centre, including one with Indian media company GBN for IBN News. Other partnerships announced include CNN, Jamba, Sony (NYSE: SNE) Pictures, RooftopComedy, ROK (LSE: ROK) and Versaly Entertainment. Nokia already has partnerships with Reuters (NSDQ: RTRSY) and YouTube. IBN News will available only in the Asia-Pac region. [via release].

On Nokia NSeries Video Center:
—IBN News: has video content, accessible for free. IBN News first has to be installed from among other video services mentioned above. The content is free and the video clips are downloaded. Too slow for me on Airtel GPRS (EDGE, actually) - and the download didn’t go beyond 2 percent and I eventually canceled.

On Nokia NSeries catalog, in ‘Downloads’ is content which has to be purchased, including:
—Mauj: Content available includes games, wallpapers, ringtones, phone tools, and some free content.
—Indiagames: content includes Cricket 20 20, Top Ten Games, Bikini Special, Sizzling Babes, Transformers, Harry Potter and 3D games…essentially - games, animation, videos and wallpapers.
—Hungama Mobile: Bollywood based ringtones, wallpapers, themes, animations
—Zee: has put up content from it’s mobile catalog ISee, which is already available with MTNL and Idea. Content includes ringtones, wallpapers, audio and video content related to Bollywood, Adventure, Cooking etc.

On GPRS (EDGE), navigating all the content in the catalog section was painstakingly slow, with the content catalog being refreshed every time you click to go deeper into the menu. Frankly, I wasn’t confident that anything I bought would download via the GPRS connection. While constant updating ensures that the content available is fresh, how long can you keep users waiting for update? Pointless, if GPRS speeds don’t improve.
