—Business Standard launched a Hindi daily last week. BS editor TN Ninan has a note on the launch here. The paper will be priced at Rs. 2 per copy. Meanwhile, Economic Times (ET) will launch its Hindi business daily on Feb 19th. The paper will initially be distributed with copies of BCCL’s Hindi paper - Navbharat Times. It’ll have 16 pages, and a print run of 200,000 copies. Details at Agencyfaqs. This appears to be typical of BCCL: they’d launched Mumbai Mirror, free, to thwart DNA in Mumbai. Hindustan Times and BCCL had combined forces in Delhi to launch Metro Now, to counter Today from the India Today group. ET going Hindi appears to be in repsonse to Business Standard’s move. Mint has an article on the Hindi Business paper market, and impending launches from Amar Ujala and the Jagran Prakashan - TV18 combine .

—Deccan Chronicle is going to launch it’s English financial daily in April-May, reports Exchange4media. Other English financial dailies include Mint, which has recently completed a year, the Economic Times, the Financial Express and Business Standard.
