Infosys Technologies Ltd founder and chief mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy has stepped down from the board of NDTV Ltd, the broadcaster said today. The company said Murthy had expressed his inability to continue on the board “in view of increasing pressure on his time and due to his commitments within and outside Infosys”.

Murthy joined NDTV board in 2004 as non-executive independent director. Other members of the NDTV board are founders Prannoy and Radhika Roy, group CEO K.V.L. Narayan Rao, Amal Ganguli, Indrani Roy, Vijaya Bhaskar Menon and Heramb Ravindra Hajarnavis.

Murthy serves on the boards of companies such as Unilever, HSBC Bank, DBS Bank and continues to be non-executive chairman of the Infosys board.
