Mint, the business daily from HT Media Ltd, is launching at least two new editions this year, according to two persons familiar with the situation. Kolkata and Chennai are the two new cities the berliner-sized daily, launched in February 2007, will appear in. Currently, Mint is available in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Pune.

Mint will likely launch in Kolkata within a week, according to our sources, and one person said the dummy runs and trial printing have already begun. The timeline for the Chennai launch is unknown. “We have always said that we will be a national paper and we ARE in the process of evaluating expansion opportunities,” Mint editor R. Sukumar wrote in an emailed response.
