Mid-Day Site Revamped; No Online Classifieds?

BSE listed Mid-Day Multimedia has relaunched it’s website, reports agencyfaqs.

The site appears to be a improvement over their earlier version (a sample), in terms of design…but the index page of the site is surprisingly low on advertising space. In terms of content, the focus of the site has been expanded to include content from Mid-Day Delhi and Bangalore, apart from Mumbai. Mid Day had acquired Delhi Mid Day from the Bharat Hotels Group earlier this year, and launched in Bangalore last year; the Internet apparently wasn’t high on their agenda…quite a delay in incorporating content from the two publications to the site. The content still needs work: the What’s On section for Delhi displays content for Mumbai.

Classifieds is an important source of revenue for the print version of Mid-Day (around half of their Mumbai edition is just that), but I was surprised to find that the new site doesn’t have a classifieds section…even though it was there in the old version. The site also has an interactive section called ‘Fun Factory’, created by Media2win, wherein users are asked to upload content like photos of their cluttered desks…unfortunately it’s flash based, and takes time to load.
