Kerala Based Student Startup Receives $1 Million In Funding

MobME, a mobile entertainment related business venture of Kerala based student startup Torque has received $1 million in funding. Torque is a 17 member operation which was started by students of Trivandrum College of Engineering, four of whom are still in college. The company has been incubated in Technopark. As per the release, Torque has a valuation of over $2.5 million. They plan to open offices in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai over the next few months, and have organic and inorganic growth plans over the next three years. In March, MobME is expected to launch VAS products, on which The Hindu sheds some light: a ‘Campaign Manager’ for creation, management and running SMS promotions; a web based mobile photosharing product called MobShare; and Fast Blood, an SMS based product to faciliate blood donation.
