Kanwal Rekhi Lanches New Venture Fund In India; Total $125 Million

Kanwal Rekhi, one of the major telecom entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley and a very active member of TIE, has launched a new venture fund in India: Inventus Capital Partners is the new US-India venture firm, with a total fund size of $125 million, and will invest US$ 1-10 million in 15-20 early-growth companies over the next few years, it said.

Among the names involved: Kanwal Rekhi and John Dougery are based in Silicon Valley, while Samir Kumar and Parag Dhol are based in Bangalore. In addition, Inventus has several prominent venture advisors including Saurabh Srivastava (successful entrepreneur and early venture capitalist in India), Prof. Rajeev Motwani (Stanford University professor, and start-up advisor to the Google (NSDQ: GOOG) & Yahoo! (NSDQ: YHOO) Founders), B. V. Jagadeesh (serial entrepreneur), and Dr. Sridhar Mitta (former President of Wipro’s R&D). Details in release.
