It’s Official: Raghu Menon Is New I&B Secretary

The government has appointed Raghu Menon as the top-ranking official overseeing media and entertainment industries at the ministry of information and broadcasting. The 1974-batch IAS officer from the Nagaland cadre will replace Sushma Singh, who retired in May. Tourism secretary Jawahar Sircar was holding additional charge of I&B thus far.

contentSutra first reported that Menon’s appointment was in the pipeline.

In Menon, I&B ministry gets an official who has a great deal of experience and familiarity with issues in the media and entertainment domain. Menon had earlier served as joint secretary for five years and then as additional secretary for a year at I&B ministry. Menon’s last appointment was as CMD of National Aviation Company of India Ltd (Air India).
