IOL Broadband is venturing into the e-learning market. The company has signed a broadband access deal with ABAN Informatics Pvt Ltd, a Chennai-based company. ABAN will provide 2D and 3D multimedia content of CBSE and ICSE curriculum for school students. IOL is a broadband and IPTV partner for both MTNL and BSNL. IOL is betting on the Human Resource Ministry’s recent announcement to promote online education all over India.
There is an estimated 300 million people of below 20 years age who can be potentially targeted through e-learning initiative. However the addressable market could be even lesser.
