Indian Companies Line Up For Dot Asia Domain
Bharti Airtel, Reliance ADAG, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra, T-series and several other companies are in the queue for a .asia domain name for their company. [via Economic Times]
Priced at $100, the .asia domain names will carry a registration fee of Rs 1,600 for two years fee. In India, Net4, an Internet Service Provider for enterprises, along with two other ICANN registrars Directi, GoodLuckDomain will offer the .asia domains from October 9. In the first phase domains will be offered to all sovereign rights holders (like government or industry associations).
The second phase will be open for companies having registered trademarks. The third phase will be for companies who have applied for trademarks. In the fourth and last phase will be a land rush which will close in one day. In a land rush, individuals can buy all unregistered domain names.

$100 for a domain is defintely overrated. Next will be co.asia, then biz.asia, then mobi.asia, then tv.asia and on and on. The list is endless.

well, it will depend upon whether the dot asia serves to be a vertical or horizontal. since it is limited to an area it will be horizontal, but with the countries having their own sepecifc domains, dot asia might be a dud
