In July, on the back of reports that companies are gradually coming back to the hiring market, candidates spent a lot of time on job portals, data from Komli Media’s Vizisense shows. The top web portal, Naukri.com, saw an 8.52% growth in traffic, compared with June.

Due to a 1 August deadline to enforce new RBI guidelines on effecting an additional layer of passwords on online card transactions, websites of various banks also saw a surge in traffic.

Orkut.com saw a 15% decline in traffic, while Facebook continues its global ascent in India as well, with an 8% month-on-month growth.

In the search category, Google’s dominance remains unshaken. While Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) grew 7.13%, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) search, which is now Bing, registered a 12.13% drop in traffic.

Among portals, Indiatimes.com grew 7%, while the top portal, Yahoo.com, slipped 3% and the new minimalist Rediff.com (NSDQ: REDF) saw a 5% drop in traffic.

Among real estate portals, Indiaproperty.com came up from the third position in June to displace 99acres.com as the top portal in July.
