Ibibo To Launch Ad Network - AdWinks
The proliferation of ad-networks in India continues: MIH owned Ibibo Web Pvt Ltd, which has largely focused on the social media space until now, is now entering the rather crowded ad networks space with a network called AdWinks, ContentSutra has learned. Ashish Kashyap, CEO of Ibibo confirmed this, but added that they are still evaluating the market and are not ready for a launch yet. He said that there are gaps in the market, and they’re considering 5-6 ideas but nothing has been firmed up yet. Kashyap did not say whether it’s a vertical ad network, a social media ad network or even a general one. I think a vertical ad network would be great - for example, one focused on sites around Indian food might help bring advertisers like recipe book publishers and restaurants online. There’s potential for a Federated Media kind of vertical ad network as well, but someone will have to bell that cat of getting the top bloggers in India on the same page.
We’ve heard of a couple of other companies looking to launch ad networks, and this bodes well for publishers. So far, there’s dgm (affiliate), Komli, Ozone Media, Tyroo, Paypod and PubMatic (aggregates networks). And then there’s Adsense…

as more ad networks enter indian market, publishers may gain from it as the bidding war may heat up! each network would try its best to attrack heavy weight publishers…

The only thing these ad networks do is reduce the quality of traffic for advertisers, depress rates and ROI for them.

Hi,
There’s a lot of scope in India but more organized international players might get the majority of the ad market here I guess (just like other media advertisement in the past) However, indian agencies may be able to offer it cheap and hence might attract small and medium business.

Ajith
