FHRAI Survey: Two-Third Of Branded Hotels Sell Hotel Room Inventory Via Net

Indian hotels seem to have started selling more rooms via the internet. According to an industry survey, about two-third of branded hotels in India use the internet to sell rooms now. According to a survey by Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI), a 77.3 per cent of hotels (in branded category) used internet to sell rooms in 2006 as against just 33.2 per cent in 2005.
As of the now the total room inventory sold through the net comprises of only 15 per cent of total inventory sold, but that is likely to increase to 35 per cent by 2011. Apparently, the tie-up of hotels with travel portals have a played a big role in boosting the internet sales. More details here.
