Eros Signs With Aksh Optifibre; Planning TV Play?

Aksh Optifibre, MTNL’s IPTV partner, has inked a deal with Eros International. Recently Aksh had launched an IP based video calling service in partnership with MTNL and we have previously covered their plans to do a simultaneous release of Bollywood movies over IPTV. The simultaneous release plan appears to have been shelved as cinema halls in the metros have threatened producers with a blackout if movies are made available on a day-date release over IP. This deal will have Eros provide VOD content and a linear Eros channel consisting of their content library. Eros currently has a looped channel running on Joost as well. Maybe plans to test audience-uptake before launching over cable and satellite? Wouldn’t be out of place considering everybody and their grandmother has a TV play planned.
