Cisco Eyes Stake In Media Companies

Cisco (NSDQ: CSCO) Media Solutions Group is planning to launch an online content delivery product in India, and SVP and General Manager Dan Scheinman tells ET that a part of their strategy is to pick up stakes in Indian media companies. Sounds like a Private Treaty deal to me, only, in this case, they’re offering a content delivery service instead of advertising inventory. Cisco has apparently already invested half of its $200 million India warchest, “in many companies”. What else can be offered to startups, in exchange for inventory? More at ET.
