Next week Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will launch its new sim card priced at Rs. 224, which will offer two distinct numbers on one card to subscribers in Uttar Pradesh. [via Business Standard] Under the new arrangement, customers can either have both numbers as their prepaid account or both as post paid or one being prepaid and the other as post paid account.

The new sim card, which took 8 months to develop, can be operated in any handset present in the market. However, the offer, as of now, will be open for new customers only. “Currently, we are looking at its commercial importance with an aim of increasing our customer base as well. This will definitely add to the number,” said Satish Kumar, general manager, (Mobile,) adding that the offer may later be extended to old customers as well.
