BCCI Invites Bids To Host Web Portal; Minimum Guarantee $50 Million

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited bids for hosting BCCI’s web-portal, reports The Economic Times. The contract will be for the next four years, and it’s expected to provide news, highlights, archival footage, statistics, streaming video, merchandising and mobile phone content. Here comes the catch. The board expects a $50 million minimum guarantee by the hosting party for the next four years, ET reports quoting a source. And that’s going to be tough.
BCCI has appointed Accenture to shortlist and appoint the company to host the website. Last year, BCCI had tied up with The Cricket Network (TCN) to design, build and operate its web portal, and it had asked for a minimum guarantee of $100 million. The deal fell through on this count. The bids are expected to come in the next four to six weeks. Now it remains to be seen how many will be comfortable with $50 million.
