MSN India has inked a deal with BBC World Service for local language Hindi news content from BBC Hindi (formerly BBC Patrika) to be made available at MSN Hindi.
The strange thing is - advertising on MSN Hindi, and indeed Yahoo Hindi, is in English. So who is the target audience then? People who want to read Hindi, but are also comfortable with English? Maybe it’s a font thing, but one issue I see with Hindi portals is that script is almost never textbook Hindi. Take a look at the MSN Hindi logo. Maybe it’s because I don’t have the right fonts installed - but that’s a problem that a lot of others are going to face.
Update: As Surender points out in the comments - it text looks fine with Internet Explorer, which is what most people use. However, it doesn’t work with Opera and Firefox.
