Arunava Sinha Quits ibibo; Joins NDTV Convergence As Chief Product Officer

Arunava ‘Bultu’ Sinha has quit the social media company ibibo Web (P) Ltd, a subsidiary of MIH Group, as its Product Head. Sinha was also the Business Head of UGC (user generated content) and Answers unit at ibibo. Sinha is joining NDTV Convergence as Chief Product Officer, and will be in charge of developing various new media products at the company. He will report to Sanjay Trehan, CEO of NDTV Convergence.

Confirming the development, Ashish Kashyap, CEO of Ibibo, said that “Sinha played an important and an integral role during the setting up and launch of ibibo.com”. Sinha had joined ibibo in July 2006 from India Today magazine where he was an Executive Editor. His exit from ibibo in about two years is a little quicker than expected, according to industry sources.

Sinha said that he has completed his brief of developing products like blogs, Social Answers and Social Opinion at ibibo. He is now looking forward to developing new products at NDTV Convergence. Sinha had headed Indatimes.com content prior to moving to India Today.

ibibo also lost a few other senior executives in the recent past - Deepan Bhattacharya, Chief Technology Officer has quit in the last few months.

Kashyap said ibibo is divided into various divisions like Social Networking and Personal Media (Photos, Videos); Answers & UGC; Communication And Search. They include Rahul Razdan, Head of communication, Ruban Phukan, VP & Head of Networking and Personal Media, Johan Dekker Head of UGC & Answers; and Rajesh (VP & Head of Search). “Creation of these PODs and groups help us to be nimble,” Kashyap said. ibibo, which set up shop two years ago in India, has about 2.3 million unique registered users.
