AOL (NYSE: TWX) is selling its call center business in India to Aegis Communications in an all cash deal of around $100 million, reports the Times of India. The report suggests that the sale was on the cards, since Wipro and other companies were in talks with AOL for acquiring the 1200 seater operations. The call centre offers technical support and customer service for AOLs dial-up/broadband businesses, while the BPO/KPO operations support business analytics, market analytics, content production and network operation services. As per the report, Rajiv Ahuja, VP (Call center & back office operations) for AOL will move to Aegis. Aegis is owned by the Essar Group, and employs over 10,000 people in multiple centres in India and one in the US. More in ToI.

We contacted AOL India for a confirmation or a denial of the deal, and we got neither:“The story is speculative and we have no comments”, an AOL spokesperson told ContentSutra.
