Airtel has launched Assal Marathi, a Marathi voice portal for subscribers in Maharashtra and Goa, offering local songs (Lokgeet, Bhavgeet, Koligeet, Lavnyanchya) for listening and download, reports Indiantelevision. The portal also features devotional songs, ringtones, jokes, news and movie, sports and astrological content. Cost of accessing the portal by dialing 696 from Maharashtra and Goa, is Rs. 6 per minute. As I’d mentioned earlier, I don’t see why consumers should pay to shop for content.
