Advertising Revenues Tripled Last Year Says Yahoo India MD

At the press conference yesterday, where Yahoo announced a strategic investment in advertising network Tyroo, Yahoo India MD George Zacharias mentioned that the company’s advertising revenues had tripled last year. Zacharias expects advertising revenues to further double this year. This is interesting (and a little bearish) in the context of growth in Internet advertising in India—Zenith Optimedia estimates that online advertising in India just around doubled last year - from Rs. 107 crores to Rs. 210 crores, and it is expected to increase by more that double this year - to Rs. 450 crores.
